Shanghai (CN) - Streetpianos PMIY 2021 - expect 17 pianos - dates TBC

Shanghai (CN) 1 piano

(2021 disclaimer: Whether we like it or not, Covid-19 changed the world in numerous ways. Our 2021 prediction presumes returning to some sort of normality, based on events history. To the best of our abilities, we’ll follow Public Piano announcements as well as general pandemic updates.) After sensational editions in 2019/20, no doubt another set of beautiful hand-painted pianos will be back in the HKRI Taikoo Hui mall.

About the Pianos More than just pianos, they are pieces of artwork painted with animals and plants, geometric abstractions and colorful shapes in themes of rebirth, the bustling city and environmental protection. After the event, the mall donates the pianos to social organizations. This gives new meaning to the project and once again causes a sensation in the city.

About the Venue/Event The HKRI Taikoo Hui mall on Nanjing Road W. introduced the project to Shanghai in 2018, and since then it has become an annual event.

About the Organizer The initiative is part of the worldwide campaign, “Play Me, I’m Yours,” launched by British artist Luke Jerram to connect people through music. Since 2020, the mall joined with the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and World of Art Brut Culture to invite artists and students to paint 17 pianos.
